MIGMAS,("MIcroGravity MAss Spectrometer") is a miniaturised scanning ion microprobe mass spectrometer which is installed as a permanent equipment on board of the Russian space station MIR. This microanalytical station will mainly be used for investigation of space corrosion.

  It opens up new possibilities in the solution of material-related technological problems in space. On the spacestation MIR it will be possible for the first time to offer round the clock systematic research opportunity for science cosmonauts.

Telemetric data transmission comes to a limit for bigger data volumes. A 5 minute time window every 8 hours gives only room for the most important telemetry data (at 1500Bytes/second).

Measurement results are stored on MEMO CARDs and transported between the space station and the ground base.

Reliable storage, failsafe handling and easy interchangeability are guarranteed by MEMO CARDs.

  The sum of these properties make MEMO CARDs an ideal portable memory medium for scientific applications.
